At Scugog Nature School, we know that all children should have access to the great outdoors. As Camp Scugog has done since 1931, we aim to continue creating welcoming and safe spaces for BIPOC families in the Durham region to participate and feel welcome in the great outdoors. That’s why we’ve partnered with Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart Foundation to offer subsidized spaces for children from BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) communities. In addition, we are able to support with outdoor clothing and equipment to help further reduce barriers to accessing the outdoors.

Jumpstart recognizes that families from any background may experience financial barriers to attend programs. Families with financial need may apply to Jumpstart for Individual Child Grants. These grants could help subsidize fees to attend multi-day programs at Scugog Nature School, such as week-long camps or a seasonal session.
